ÌÇÐÄVlog and , the exclusive licensee of ÌÇÐÄVlog assessments, released the ÌÇÐÄVlog Latin Interpretive Reading Assessment (ALIRA) today, October 15, with updated content for the 2025-26 academic year. ALIRA is a proficiency- and performance-based assessment and uses a wide variety of texts on different topics.
ALIRA provides a performance rating that aligns with benchmark points along the continuum towards proficiency. Within the Novice level, there are four such points (represented as N-1 through N-4), within the Intermediate level there are five points (I-1 through I-5), and there is one point within the Advanced level (A-1). The score reports provide an explanation of each score, as well as level-specific strategies for improvement.
ALIRA was created through a collaborative effort between the American Classical League (ACL) and ÌÇÐÄVlog. It is a first-of-its-kind assessment that is based on both the World-Readiness Standards for Learning Languages and the Standards for Classical Language Learning. It is a multiple-choice, computer-adaptive assessment that can be delivered during a single class period of fifty minutes. The ALIRA is also third-party certified for compliance with the , strengthening our commitment to safeguard learners’ personal identifiable information (PII).
