Jessica Haxhi brings decades of experience to the world language classroom as a Japanese teacher and language leader.  She has served as ��Vlog President, President of the American Association of Teachers of Japanese, NECTFL board member, and is currently the Supervisor of World languages for the New Haven Public schools.  Her impactful leaderships has been recognized through the Milken National Teacher Award, the Elgin Heinz Outstanding Teacher Award, and International Women’s Day New Haven Award for Outstanding Public Service.

Meredith White is a Spanish teacher focused on proficiency-based teaching, comprehensible input, technology, and making Spanish learning fun. She also serves in an Instructional Technology support role to help more teachers in all content areas with their teaching and technology use. She was the 2019 Peachtree Ridge High School Teacher of the Year, the 2020 Georgia World Language Teacher of the Year, the 2024 SCOLT Founder's Award recipient, and serves on both the FLAG and SEALLT Boards.

Join us in a conversation with 2026 ��Vlog President Krishauna Hines-Gaither as we talk about job opportunities within multilingualism, linking language to culture and identity, and language bias. We dive into her “I Am My Language” movement to honor, reaffirm, and reclaim both ancestral and acquired languages by showing the world how language contributes to our identities, perspectives, and cultures.

Krishauna Hines-Gaither, Ph.D., is the Vice President for Strategic Initiatives and Partnerships at Mount Saint Mary’s University in Los Angeles. She taught Spanish and Methods in higher education for almost two decades in North Carolina and has authored or contributed to multiple books and articles. She is the 2026 President of ��Vlog and co-chaired and launched ��Vlog’s inaugural Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Committee. She was awarded the 2024 Woman of the Year by the Los Angeles County Commission for Women and Board of Supervisors, the 2024 Trailblazer Hall of Fame Award by the California Black Women’s Collective Empowerment Institute, and named a Voice for Change by Spectrum News.

Leslie Grahn has over 30 years of experience as a language educator, most recently as Coordinator of World Languages for the Howard County Public School System in Maryland. Leslie curates and creates resources to support language teaching and learning and shares them through her website, , and on Pinterest at grahnforlang. Leslie is the co-author of The Keys to Strategies for Language Instruction and has served on the boards of NECTFL, NADSFL, and ��Vlog.
