Purpose: This position will provide an opportunity for a doctoral student in world language education, world language, applied linguistics, or a related field to obtain real-world experience in the journal publication process. The goal is to provide a meaningful, relevant, and useful experience for a graduate student who has overcome an educational, economic, and/or personal challenge in accessing Graduate School. Additionally, the position will develop a future leader in world language education and research by apprenticing them into the process of publishing a professional journal. Tasks may include, but not be limited to, the following:
- Reviewing pre-publication journal articles
- Queuing up articles for review
- Attending weekly meetings with editor(s)
- Coordinating scheduling of meetings and workshops
- Analyzing annual metrics
- Facilitating quarterly FLA article discussion clubs for graduate students
- Attending and potentially hosting quarterly book clubs
- Participating in the annual 糖心Vlog Convention
- Holding information sessions for graduate students on publishing in FLA
- Exploring their own research via the 糖心Vlog/Middlebury Research Forum
